1954 Chevy Sedan
This model was inherited from his father by John Thaddeus Canavan. John's was originally brown, but, like many cars in those days, it ended up in gray primer. The car met its end in Lake George after an accident. |
THE FAMOUS 55 CHEVY
The most notable 55 Chevy to cruise around Hollis belonged to Al Pranckevicus. Al's was a yellowish green color with lots of custom features. Eddy Lee also owned a "clean" white 55 Chevy.

THE ALMOST AS FAMOUS 56 CHEVY
Tom Farley once owned a 56 Chevy in the same colors as this model. The car met its end after crashing into a tree near PS 35. The identity of exactly who was behind the wheel has been a well-guarded secret for over 30 years. |
The 1958 Chevy
This model and color car was originally owned by Jack Connolly. Jack sold it to Dave Moratta who then sold it to Tom Farley. Tom finally sold it to Bob Brennan. That car really got around. They don't make them like they used to.

1961 Triumph TR3
There were a few serious car enthusiasts in Hollis. A model similar to this British sport's car was owned by Steve Serra. Nick Guagliardo shared Steve's enthusiasm for sports cars. They once entered a rally and came home with a first place trophy. |
1961 MG Midget
Nick Guagliardo owned a red version of this car. No one remembers the year or model, but Jimmy Robitaille and Bob Marino also owned MGs at one point.

1965 Pontiac GTO
One of two "muscle cars" that tore up the streets of Hollis. Steve Popageorge once owned a canary yellow GTO. Steve had a sedan and there never was a tiger on the hood. However, the 389 cubic inch motor with three two barrell carbs made quite a roar. |

The second "muscle car" was owned by Jack Connolly. The car in this picture is the same color inside and out as the one Jack owned. There were a few races between Jack and Steve Pops, until someone stole Jack's car out of a parking lot near Community Gardens. The car was eventually found stripped in the Bronx.
