MANY THANKS TO JIM HOLLYWOOD
Jimmy Hollywood grew up in Hollis and was able to provide me with these great pictures.Jimmy is now a citizen of the great state of Florida, but as a kid he lived on 183rd St. and 91st Ave., down the block from the Connells. He retired from the NYPD many years ago and has been in Florida quite a while.Jim has been a contributor to this web site in the past and his photos are always great. BTW, Jimmy has a place in Ormond Beach that he rents out. The place is great! It's a block and a half from the beach and one block from Daytona Beach. Anyone interested in renting his place can get all the details by visiting his web site at: http://members.aol.com/horayfor/vacvilla.html

MARIO CUOMO HANGING OUT IN HOLLIS!
Just another night in somebody's basement hangout I would guess. Jim Hollywood has put all the names at the bottom of the picture and as you can see 4th from the left is a teenage Mario Cuomo hanging out in Hollis. From the basements of Hollis to the Govenor's Mansion. |

Mario Cuomo-Ballplayer
This picture shows Mario getting a trophy for one of his many baseball accomplishments. He was quite the ballplayer and would make a great Baseball Commissioner.

Mario Cuomo Playing High School ball.
Mario Cuomo is shown here at what appears to be a high school game. The unidentified guy next to him is wearing a Jamica High School baseball jersey. |

St. Paddy's Day in Hollis!
Pictured left are some good old Hollis boys having a hell of a good time in what once again appears to be somebody's basement. Jim Hollywood himself is pictured in the front middle of this picture. I don't have much information on these guys, other that the fact that Buddy Marchetta is deceased. If anyone knows anything about them you can put it in the guest book or e-mail me and I'll publish it.

LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE GIRLS !
In another great shot of some Hollis kids, Jim Hollywood has once again provided us with some vintage Hollis Girls. This is one year before I was even born, so I guess the saying, "Old enough to be my mother" fits. They sure were a good looking group in their day. Once again I don't have any info on these women who, I'm sure, are all now in their 70's. If you want, post a message in the guest book or e-mail me. |

HANGING OUT AT JULIE ANN'S
Pictured are some of the boys of Hollis, once again circa the early 50's. If you look closely at the web site you will notice that some of these guys are seen on other pages of this site. I believe that at least one of them is planning on attending the reunion on September 20, 2003.

1945 ON THE STEPS OF ST. GERARD'S
Once again Jim Hollywood has done a great job in identifying many of these Holliskids as they poise for a picture on the steps of the Church/School. If you see someone you know please write in and let all of us know the who/what/why/when and how of these former Hollis citizens. |
