The VW Beetle
This was a very popular car in the 60's and 70's because it was reliable and cheap. Over the years, lots of Hollis people owned Bugs, including, Bob Mareno, Tom Farley, Jack Connolly (3), Tommy O'Leary, Roger Newbell and Louie Macaluso.

1941 Ford Coupe
Karl Benedikt owned a souped up version of this car. Karl and his brother Pete were always working to build a faster machine. Karl was a regular at Westhampton Speedway for the Sunday afternoon drag races. Will anyone admit to hiding in the trunk to get in for free?

1962 Rambler
It wasn't pretty, but the seats folded back which made it the perfect "make out" car for those night time trips to the parking lot in Cunningham Park. Tom Farley, Richie Correa, Eddie Samida and Roger Newbell owned Ramblers like to one above.

1955 Chevy Nomad
Karl Benedikt tells the story of this car. "The Nomad was a Aqua Blue and White 55 Chevy purchased new in 1955 by Eddy Lee's dad, John Lee. Eddy started driving it in 1964 and he souped it up a bit at the time. It was then stolen in Greenwich Village one night. Eddy got it back about two months later and he had already replaced it with a really clean white 55 Chevy coupe. In the meantime, I had wrecked the body on my 1941 Ford coupe which I later sold to Billy Mc Loughlin . I took the punched out 283ci Chevy motor (it also had a roller cam and fuelie pistons etc.) out of the 41 Ford and dropped it into the Nomad along with a close ratio 4 speed trans and a 4:56 posi rear end. Around that time the car was painted black primer and still had the white roof. I later changed to light gray primer but kept the same roof paint. Despite all that it still ran the 1/4 mile at Westhampton in 13.6 seconds at 101 mph.

1959 Pontiac Catalina
Before Steve Pops upgraded to his 65 GTO, he owned a white convertible like the one pictured here.

1957 Chevy
Lenny Sternesky once owned a 57 Chevy like the one pictured here. It had those distinctive rear fins that makes it a classic.
